We are considering touring Croatia June 2007 or maybe Sept 2007. We have three teenage boys. Is there a beach or naturist resort that offers activities for teens? We are a sailing family and also scuba dive; so a place that has those activities would be perfect. Also, I looked briefly at the scuba information on a naturist Croatia site and it did't specify if scuba diving nude is permitted? Of course with the safety gear and equipment.

Valalta www.valalta.hr naturist resort in Rovinj has lots of facilities for everyone, so I'm sure all of you will be happy there. There is also a diving centre within the resort (Aqualung - luisafumi.com/aqualung/, ). Valalta also has a boat marina, again a plus for you. I'm not so sure about nude diving, because while the sea temperature at the surface reaches up to 26 or 27°C in summer, at a depth from 20 to 30 m (average diving depth) remains constant throughout the year, ranging from 16 to 17 °C.

Thank you very much; this is what I needed. Looks like the dates of our trip will be the secnod and third weeks of June 2007.
What should we expect at Valata? Will there be European families or mostly adults, will there be young children?
Do many Americans stay here?
Can we rent a boat for a few hours?
Ok, too many questions, sorry.
Oh, one more: car rental. We want to tour the area so car will be neccesary. I am not an experience traveler, so any tips on car rentals would be appreciated.
Thank you.

Dear Bert, Perhaps by now you have gotten most of your questions answered. We were in Valalta with our family in June of 2005 and had a very nice stay there. To my knowledge, we were the only Americans there at the time, though it's a big place - hard to tell. We were there slightly ahead of the European holiday period, so we found most of the people there to be of retirement age with a few young families. Very few teenagers - though that could change dramatically a couple weeks later. Valalta is gorgeous with lots of facilities. Espescially wonderful is the large swimming areas with floating docks, and the waterslide nearby. Driving there can be tricky as car rental companies will need to issue a special authorization if you wish to drive across from Italy or Austria (which is what we did.) If you don't have the right paperwork you might be turned away at the border. Other than this, driving there presented no issues different than driving elsewhere in Europe. We also made a day visit to Koversada and have put a trip report on our website at www.pandctravel.com. Someday, I'll get the Valalta report posted as well. We are hoping to return in 2008. Hope that helps. P

Thank you for this information; now we have to decide what we want to see and do. I don't want to miss the castles north of Zagreb, a personal interest, thankfully shared by my middle son. And we all want to visit Dubronvik. I wish we could spend three months in Croatia.
After looking at our plan, I think Zargreb to the coast and then south is the best option so far, but that leaves out Valalta.
I guess the best option is to find a hotel that has a naturist beach nearby. Any of these along the Coast?
